Stitched Box
Here’s a stitched box that’s simple to make, even if you’ve never embroidered before. There are so many great resources that show you how to do simple stitches (I mostly used a back stitch here) and there are a million designs you can do. All you need is some craft floss, a needle and a paper mache or thick cardboard box.

To make this beach scene, I lightly sketched the picture on lid first with pencil, keeping in mind where I wanted each color to go. I found it easiest to stitch one color at a time, starting with the blue water. I poked all of the holes along each pencil line from the front and then erased all of the pencil lines in that section. I threaded my needle with the blue floss and pulled my first stitch from the underside of the lid, tying a double knot to secure the floss. I continued stitching down the line with a back stitch and tied a double knot to secure the end on the last hole. The I just follow the same steps for the palm tree trunk, leaves and sun.

I’ll probably use this box to hold pins or something on my desk, but next time I want to stitch a name and use it as a gift box. What could you make a stitched box for? -Jessica

This is a very cute idea!
Thank you! Glad you like it.
Oh how darling, since it’s a beach theme, my first thought was it would make a great place to keep memoribillia from a trip.
I love this!
